The recipe – step by step

1. Soak the smoked fillets briefly and flake into chunks.
2. Boil 1.5L water with onion and seasoning cubes.
3. Add pepper soup spice and crayfish; simmer 10 minutes into an aromatic broth.
4. Gently drop in fish steaks and smoked flakes; simmer 8 minutes without stirring hard.
5. Add uziza leaves and switch off after 3 minutes.
6. Serve steaming hot – the ultimate rainy-day or hangover remedy.
