You will add fresh

Fresh peppers, 1 onion, spinach (optional)

The recipe – step by step

1. Cut fresh yam into chunks if using, or prepare dumplings from the flour later.
2. Fry onion in palm oil, add blended pepper and fry 5 minutes.
3. Pour in 600ml water, pepper soup spice, crayfish and dried fish.
4. Add yam chunks; simmer 25 minutes until soft and the porridge thickens.
5. Mash a few pieces against the pot for body; adjust salt.
6. Finish with spinach leaves and rest 5 minutes before serving.
